Get clear on your call to action.

Let's get tactical for a second. Here is your Sunday issue of WINS List.

Get clear on your call to action.

I’m coming into your inbox on this lovely Sunday morning with a little bit of marketing 101. Today’s lesson is about the importance of your CTA… otherwise known as your Call To Action.

Your Call to Action is the thing you invite your readers to do next if they want to learn more about you or your business. It usually comes toward the end of a post and includes a link out.

Commonly used CTAs include phrases like… “Learn more” or “Book a time” or “Message me directly”.

It will feel a bit uncomfortable at first when you begin to include CTAs in your posts. You might think to yourself that it’s too forward or sales-y to include a link out to your website or calendar booking tool.

But let me tell you, without a clear CTA, your readers will do just that… read. They will not click. They will not message you. They will continue to scroll onto the next.

When you include a CTA in your post, you are offering your readers an option — to click or to continue scrolling. Some of them might just click, and that there is a beautiful thing.

As you are putting yourself out into the world… exercising your personal branding muscles… sharing posts with your network week after week, it’s important to take time to get clear on this.

Your CTA is really just an invitation, and even if they don’t accept, everyone loves to be invited.

Speaking of CTAs, I’d love to invite you to learn more about our premium subscription offering, Wishlist. Our goal with Wishlist is to help you map out your personal branding strategy by identifying and tracking opportunities that make sense for you. You can purchase this upgrade here.

Adweek Social Media Week

Part of Adweek’s portfolio of events, Social Media Week is slated for May 12-14 in NYC. While on the surface this event feels best suited for brand marketers and agency personnel, the content being discussed and the speaker list is timely and impressive. A tad pricey, but worth a look. Learn more or register here.

Women in Tech Global Conference

The Women in Tech Global Conference being held May 20-22 unites 100,000 women in tech to foster innovation with purpose and impact. The virtual-first conference will feature an interactive platform featuring live educational & training content, keynotes, engaging panels, breakout rooms, technical workshops, and networking with virtual and in-person sessions.
