The selfie hurdle

Showing your face will 10x your success. Here is your Sunday issue of WINS List.

Showing your face will 10x your success.

It’s not scientifically proven, but it’s true: when you include an image of your own face in your posts on social platforms, your engagement is always way, way better.

The selfie hurdle is real, and it can be scary. There is a certain level of cringe involved. Trust me, I know.

While it is completely normal to avoid sharing images of yourself, the selfie hurdle is a one you’ll want to clear if you’d like to expand your influence and build your wealth through strategic storytelling.

A post on LinkedIn, Substack or [insert your platform of choice here] can be unbelievably well-crafted, complete with killer calls to action, and stuffed with valuable insights, but without an image (or video clip) to accompany it, the post is not likely going to accomplish what you might hope. There is simply too much content out there.

To break through the digital clutter with your message in your unique area of expertise, you’ve got to go for it. You’ve got to share your images.

Images you include with posts don’t need to be true selfies. They can be images taken of you at events by others. They can be images of settings and scenery while you are out doing your thing in the world.

The goal is to extend your visual presence into your posts so that your audience stops, looks, reads, comments or taps.

Expand your influence. Build your wealth. Celebrate your success.
